Help Us Fill The Plate
With more than 30 community-based services, the Local Office on Aging continues to strive to fulfill its mission of helping older persons remain independent for as long as possible.
But we can’t do it alone. We will use donations to fill the plate of services where it is needed most.
Your Gift Provides More Than A Meal®

Transportation
“Transportation makes it possible for me to get out of the house. I love the drivers because they’re friendly and reliable.”
LOA provided 14,296 one-way trips for seniors in 2024.

Diners Clubs
“It’s good to be among people who seem to care and help you. I like the fellowship and the food. We have fun, sometimes just talking about our lives.”
1,166 persons benefited from Congregate Nutrition last year

Meals on Wheels
“I appreciate this service so much. It’s such a blessing because some people wouldn’t have hot meals (or any meals) because they can’t cook for themselves.”
Volunteers helped deliver 107,843 meals this past year. 1 in 3 Meals on Wheels sites across the country currently have waitlists of a combined total of 46,000 seniors.
And more!
Your gift to LOA will Help Us Fill The Plate of services that provide vital connections, and help our older neighbors live with dignity and health.
“Both my wife and I struggle with healthy eating.”
Gary, 75, is an Army Veteran and unable to continue working due to a brain injury sustained during his time in the military. Mable, 72, is diabetic and finds it difficult to be on her feet for long periods of time due to nerve damage. She is thus, also unable to work. The couple is on a very fixed income.

Gary and Mable began receiving Senior Food Boxes from LOA in 2018. Neither are homebound, so they do not qualify for Meals on Wheels. The Senior Food Boxes delivered to them each month are the only nutritional support they receive. The elderly couple both require a number of medications, and they struggle to pay rent from time to time, especially in the winter. The Senior Food Boxes have reduced their monthly grocery bill substantially and enables them to live with less financial stress.
“Both my wife and I struggle with eating healthy. She needs to watch what she eats more than me because of the diabetes so the food they bring each month really means a lot to us,” says Gary. “I’ve thought many times that we might be better off in a nursing home, but the food really helps a lot and I don’t have to think like that anymore.”
Help Us Fill the Plate of services so Gary, Mable, and other seniors in our community are cared for and empowered to live their best lives, longer!
